Thank you for this information
Dibb and Warnes Business (and vehicles) were sold to Harrogate and District Bus Company (later renamed West Yorkshire Road Car Company) on the 1st July 1926. Corcoran Brothers ran charabancs as well as taxis and had bought new small buses in April/May 1926. They grew to be quite a sizeable business, selling out to West Yorkshire RCC in late 1933.
Dennis charabanc owned by Corcoran Brothers, Tadcaster
An error was made in the description accompanying the picture. The Station Hotel was to the west of the station and had been confused with “The Junction” public house which was to the east. Thanks Nick for the information.
Interesting to see the extra chimneys front and back. Now removed.
railway hotel is still there to this day, split into two homes as it was when my family owned it in the 60s and 70s
Junior school moved to Wetherby Road but it remained the Infants School into the 1970s with Mrs Ball as headteacher, Mr Westerman (?) caretaker and I remember Mr Smith the lollipop man..
Very informative. I was a pupil 1976-83 and Mr Myers was one of my history teachers.
The church is the Congregational church, see other photo
Thank you for the information – I will correct the caption. John
The church in the photo is not St Mary’s, it is the Congregational church that was demolished to create flats there now. Listers furniture shop was the first change to the church and the shop was in the church building.
Very interesting. Thank you. I was at TGS 1969-1976
This photo is taken on Wharfebank Terrace outside Nos 9 &7
