The Association exists to encourage and assist the study of Local History as an academic discipline and as a rewarding leisure pursuit for both individuals and groups. Publications include The Local Historian (The Journal of the British Association for Local History) and Local History News.

Leodis - a photographic archive of Leeds.
Secret Leeds - a site dedicated to investigating quirky, unusual or mysterious aspects of the built environment, culture and history of the city of Leeds, both past and present.
Old Maps - online access to a complete step by step picture of land use changes that have taken place from the mid-19th Century onwards, from OS County Series, OS Town Plans and post-war National Grid mapping to unique Russian Maps of UK target locations from the cold-war era.
A Vision of Britain - online access to a collection of Historical maps
Britain from Above - the unique Aerofilms collection of aerial photographs from 1919-1953.

The archive holds copies of over 4,200 old photographs and images of Tadcaster and the surrounding area. This collection may be viewed in Tadcaster Library. Printed copies may be purchased.
